Last Week Of The Course

Yeah I made it!! So interesting to read about Social Networking Sites and to think about their application in Libraries. Funny to hear that Institutions like Museums and Libraries have personal profiles on Facebook etc. But what a great idea to get us out there and especially amongst the younger generation. I particularly liked the Rotorua Library Page and thought we could do one like that here at Hornsby. The different communities in the Library could advertise upcoming events eg. Children's Pantomine, Author Talks.
The issue of Second Life is another mind boggling idea - again a means to reach the younger generation and advertise our wares. If you think "Ask A Librarian" takes time imagine entering this world regularly to interact with other Avatars...

Google Documents

Today I used Google Documents to share some ideas on Art Work in the Library. I have sent an invitation to Merilyn @ Hornsby and Victoria @ SLNSW to make any suggestions. This is a great tool for working collaboratively with others.

Mashups for the Library

What a great idea for the library - a bit of fun to do a jigsaw puzzle, but also helpful information with maps and the details of libraries in a particular area. Would also be good for profiling where an author comes from.

How Can We Use Vodcasts?

Vodcasts are a great tool for library users. When thinking of RA it would be good if we could direct borrowers to author talks or book reviews. Yesterday morning I saw Jodi Picoult speaking on Sunrise. Just thinking we could direct borrowers to that website for more information.
